Shopping near Barren River Lake runs from farm-country markets to a full regional mall. On one end you have Habegger's Amish Market and the small shops along Perrytown Road; on the other, Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green. In between are the town squares in Scottsville and Glasgow, quirky roadside stores near Cave City, and the marina ship stores where you can grab what you forgot. Here's how to plan a shopping day.

Habegger's Amish Market and Perrytown Road

Habegger’s Amish Market at 415 Perrytown Road is listed by the local Chamber for local products and Dutch-made bulk foods. Check current bakery, deli and grocery options before building your meal plan around a specific item. Chamber market address and details.

For more farm-country stops, ask which nearby public shops are currently operating and check their directions, opening days and payment options. Seasonal stock changes, and a farm address does not automatically mean visitors are welcome.

Scottsville KY shopping and the courthouse square

For Scottsville KY shopping, start at the courthouse square. The downtown historic district has shops and cafes within walking distance, so you can browse and stop for coffee at 773 Co. or lunch on East Main. For more independent shops, check the Chamber’s directory and confirm current hours.

Closer to the water, Paradise Point Marketplace combines a boutique and what it calls funky junk with Southern breakfast and hot dogs, which makes it an easy stop on a lake day.

Glasgow's public square

Glasgow's public square is lined with historic commercial buildings like the ones in the photo above. It's a good place to walk, browse and eat, with Fine Arts Bistro serving breakfast and lunch on the square and the restored Plaza Theatre hosting concerts and shows. Bowling Green KY shopping and Greenwood Mall

When you need a bigger selection, Bowling Green KY shopping covers it. Greenwood Mall has department stores and national retailers; check its current directory before making a special trip. Downtown, The Pots Place is an artist co-op pottery studio and gallery, and Fountain Square Park, a historic Victorian park, is a nice place to take a break between stops. Current Greenwood Mall directory. Bowling Green tourism’s local gallery guide.

If you're making a longer trip, Nashville has Opry Mills, a large outlet and value mall next to the Grand Ole Opry, and The Mall at Green Hills.

Rock shops and roadside stores near Cave City

The roads around Mammoth Cave have their own kind of shopping. Big Mike's Mystery House in Cave City is a quirky roadside gift shop with a rock shop and Mystery House, and Onyx Cave has a rock shop alongside its cave tour. In Horse Cave, Farmwald's Restaurant & Bakery has a country store, and the Hart County Amish community has bakeries, groceries and furniture shops. Farmwald’s store and menu. Big Mike’s official visitor information. Onyx Cave and Rock Shop.

Lake supplies, bait and fuel

For the boat, the marinas are your first stop. Walnut Creek Marina and The Narrows Marina both have ship stores and fuel, and Peninsula Marina has a marina store and fuel. For bigger runs, Glasgow, Scottsville and Bowling Green have groceries and hardware stores. Marina stores and fuel information. Peninsula Marina’s location and services.

A simple shopping-day plan

  • Morning: Perrytown Road for baked goods, jams and produce, after confirming opening hours.

  • Midday: lunch on the square in Scottsville or Glasgow, then a slow walk around the shops.

  • Afternoon: Bowling Green if you need the mall, or back toward the lake with a meal you have arranged in advance.

  • Bring a cooler for cheese and ice cream, and check hours before you go, especially on Sundays.

We'll add spotlights on individual stores to this category over time. Our Shopping | Local Favorites page has more listings.
