Loaded Campfire Nachos: A Shareable Supper with Minimal Cleanup

Campfire nachos cook in a disposable foil pan or cast-iron skillet over the fire. They are shareable, require almost no cleanup, and work well as a casual supper at a campsite.
Ingredients (serves 4)
1 bag tortilla chips, 2 cups shredded cheese, 1 can black beans (drained) or cooked ground beef/chicken, 1 small onion or bell pepper (diced, optional), salsa, sour cream, and optional jalapeños or guacamole. Disposable foil pan or cast-iron skillet, plus foil for covering.
Method
Spread a layer of chips in the foil pan or skillet. Add some of the beans or meat, then a layer of cheese. Repeat with another layer of chips and toppings. Cover loosely with foil. Place on a grate over medium campfire coals. Cook 10–15 minutes, checking occasionally, until the cheese is melted and any refrigerated cooked meat reaches 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Remove from the heat, uncover carefully, and add salsa, sour cream, and any cold toppings. Serve directly from the pan. USDA guidance
Using a disposable foil pan means almost no cleanup. Keep the fire moderate so the chips do not burn before the cheese melts. The nachos can be assembled at the campsite in a few minutes.
